Terms of Service
Draft, 20 October 2026, for the owner to review before launch. It is not legal advice.
These terms are an agreement between you and the provider of FocusHour. Please read them before you sign up. By creating an account or using FocusHour, you agree to them.
Who provides FocusHour
FocusHour is provided by Isfandiyar Shaheen, an individual in the United States, trading as FocusHour ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@getfocushour.com.
The service
FocusHour is an online service for digital SAT practice, used in a web browser at getfocushour.com/app. It offers practice questions, short video lessons, an AI coach that gives hints and reviews answers, practice papers, and a weekly progress report for parents. We may improve, change or remove features over time.
Accounts
- An account is for a parent or guardian, or for a student who is 13 or older. FocusHour is not for children under 13, and they may not create an account.
- If you are under 18, you may use FocusHour only with a parent's or guardian's agreement.
- Give a correct email address and keep access to it: sign-in codes are sent there. You are responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else is using it.
- One account is for one person. Don't share it or sell it.
The subscription and the free trial
- Plans: USD 500 a year, or USD 100 a month, charged to your card by Stripe, our payment processor.
- Free trial: each plan starts with a 7-day free trial, one per account. Your card is taken when you start the trial; nothing is charged until the trial ends. If you cancel during the trial, you are not charged.
- Renewal: after the trial, your plan renews automatically at the end of each year or month, at the price then shown, until you cancel. We'll tell you before any price change applies to you.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time in the app, in Settings → Manage or cancel, or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds: see our Refund and cancellation policy.
- Some content may be offered free without a subscription. What is free may change.
No score guarantee
FocusHour is a study aid. We don't promise any particular SAT score, admission or result: these depend on the student's own work and on things we don't control. FocusHour is not affiliated with or endorsed by College Board, which owns the SAT trademark.
Acceptable use
Please use FocusHour only for your own study. Don't:
- copy, download in bulk, resell, publish or share our questions, lessons, films or other content;
- try to get around payments, access limits or security, or reach other people's data;
- use bots, scrapers or automated tools on the service, or overload it;
- send the AI coach anything unlawful, abusive or unrelated to studying, or use it to harm anyone;
- break the law, or pretend to be someone else.
Content and ownership
The questions, explanations, films, reports, software and design of FocusHour belong to us or to those who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and other laws. While your account is in good standing, we give you a personal, non-transferable license to use them for your own study. Your own work (your answers, working and notes) stays yours; you let us store and use it to provide the service and the parent's report, as our Privacy page explains.
The AI coach writes its replies automatically. They can be wrong. Check them against the worked solutions, and don't rely on them alone.
Ending your account
You may stop using FocusHour and delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account; a subscription is cancelled first. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we must close for legal reasons; where we can, we'll tell you first. If we close your account without a fault on your part, we'll refund the unused part of a period you paid for. If we ever stop offering FocusHour, we'll give notice and refund unused paid time.
Disclaimers and limits of liability
FocusHour is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including of fitness for a particular purpose, and we don't promise the service will always be available or free of errors.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost opportunities or results, and our total liability for any claim about FocusHour is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under consumer law that can't be limited.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Please contact us first: most problems can be solved by email. If a dispute can't be solved that way, it will be heard in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for a significant change we'll tell account holders by email or in the app before it applies. If you keep using FocusHour after a change applies, you accept the new terms; if you don't, you can cancel.
